Korosuke (コロ助) is one of the main characters from Kiteretsu Daihyakka. He is a robot samurai designed by Kiteretsu-Saisama and built by Kiteretsu. He has a striking resemblance to Doraemon but his attributes are like those of Nobita as both of the animes are made by the Fujiko Fujio duo. He appears in all episodes along with Kiteretsu.

Appearance[]

Korosuke is a samurai robot. His head is made of rubber, and his body is a plastic bucket. His hands are two rubber balls; despite not being able to play rock-paper-scissors with them, some comic panels and animated scenes do depict him with mitten-like fingers. He is approximately 50 centimeters tall and 30 centimeters wide.

Korosuke’s body colors have changed significantly between the publication of the original manga and the release of the 1987 TV special. In earlier color comic media, his head was pink or orange, and his body was red or yellow.

In the 1987 special, his head color was changed to light yellow, his body to yellow, and his nose to blue. Additionally, he now carried a samurai sword on his back, which had a yellow tip and a black sheath.

From the anime series onward, his palette was changed yet again: his light yellow head color was kept, but his body is orange, his nose and two circles are now red, and his sword’s sheath is red.

History[]

Korosuke was the first invention built by Eiichi Kite.

In the final episode of the anime, it is revealed that Korosuke is modeled after Kiteretsu-Saisama’s deceased son. Korosuke stays behind to help him, allowing the others to return to the present.

Personality and characteristics[]

Korosuke is a robot that can speak, behave and emote like normal human beings. His behaviors and mannerisms are close to that of a young child as he is 2 to 3 years old . In the Japanese version, he is a naive and extremely stupid character, but he has a heart of gold and is willing to help anyone.

He is loyal to Kiteretsu and helps him in his inventions, though he will be vocal if he feels an invention is dangerous. (Searching for Buried Treasure!)

He is a bed-wetter and requests Kiteretsu to keep it a secret. (One-Way Time Machine, I’m Korosuke (anime))

In the Japanese version, he uses the pronoun “wagahai” and usually ends his sentences with "nari (ナリ)."

His favorite food in the manga is cake, while in the anime it is croquettes.

Relationships[]

Eiichi Kite is Korosuke’s inventor and best friend. He helps Kiteretsu in his inventions even though most of his inventions fail because of him.

Miyoko[]

Miyoko is one of Korosuke's best friends.

Buta-Gorilla[]

Korosuke and Buta-Gorilla have a “frenemies” relationship: Buta-Gorilla will often pick on Korosuke, but the two will also team up to get out of a tight spot.

Tongari[]

Like Buta-Gorilla, Korosuke and Tongari also have a “frenemies” relationship. In episode 89, Korosuke and Kiteretsu had a falling-out, which led Korosuke to temporarily move in with Tongari’s family. The experience was less than ideal, as Tongari made Korosuke do his chores. When it is revealed that Tongari has been blaming Korosuke for his bed-wetting problems, this proves to be the final straw, causing Korosuke to leave.

Mame-Koro[]

Mame-Koro was created by Eiichi Kite in episode 89 when Korosuke temporarily moved out of the Kite residence. Mame-Koro sees Korosuke as a big brother.
